Invisible Women Portraits

Invisible Women Portraits is a series of portraits of women whose images were taken from newspapers and magazines over a two year period. Without including images of fashion models it gradually became apparent that women appeared far less frequently than men in these papers. These delicate and intimate portraits are made with pinpricks on black card, they are only visible depending on the angle they are approached. Like so many distant constellations with a little adjustment of the viewers’ perspective the portraits will fleetingly appear.
